Three-year starter used almost exclusively in a three-point stance as a senior. Second team All-Conference selection last year when he registered 78/8.5/3/1/5. Again, second team All-League as a junior when he posted numbers of 103/13/3/2/6 after a career high 106 tackles as a redshirt sophomore.

Explosive athlete who must match the mental aspects of the game with his physical skills. At defensive end he is quick off the snap with a nice first step, fast in either a straight line or laterally and pursues the play with speed. Quick closing burst, side steps or slides off blocks while also showing the strength to physically defeat opponents. Gets depth on his pass drops, rarely off his feet and squares into his tackles, wrapping up the ballcarrier. Not the most instinctive or aware defender; does not always take good angles to the action, does more chasing the play as opposed to anticipating or diagnosing the action and hesitant in his game. Used off the line of scrimmage during Senior Bowl practices and while he had no problem staying downfield with running backs or tight ends in pass coverage, he was slow reacting to them and usually a half step off the mark. Switching of positions hurt his development at linebacker last season but the underlying skills are there for him to be a productive defender at the next level. Turned a lot of heads with good workouts at the combine and made the move up draft boards. Late First Round.
