Kendall Simmons | OG | Auburn | Southeastern Conference
Selected by Pittsburgh Steelers in round 1, pick 30 (30 overall)
Height Weight 40 Grade

Three-year starter that played both guard and left tackle with the first unit. First team All- Conference selection as a senior and winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given annually to the SEC's top lineman. Again, All-Conference selection as a junior after returning from an ankle injury that caused him to redshirt three games into the '99 season.

Wide-bodied offensive lineman best served on the inside. Quick off the snap, displays jolt at the point of attack, staying square and keeping opponents in front of him. Strong in his upper body, turns defenders out run blocking and a cognizant lineman aware of his assignments. Keeps his feet moving in pass protection, can play in space and quick getting to the second level. Tenacious, stays with the play and works hard. Displays adequate lateral range but not a knee bender, gets a little upright and lazy with his fundamentals. Slow getting his hands into opponents, lacks great body adjustment and though he can shuffle and slide his feet, overall he lacks fluid or quick footwork. Best in confined quarters and with attention to detail, a solid prospect that could be starting by the end of his rookie campaign. Late Second Round.
