Grading System
RICKY SHARPE
Position: CB
Class: Sr
School: San Diego St.
Conference: MWC
Ht., Wt.: 6'0, 190
40 Time: 4.65
Grade: 3.18

BIO: Three-year starter who totaled 64 tackles, three INTs and led the team breaking up 17 passes as a senior. Junior totals were 43-2-11 after 65-1-5 the prior year.

POSITIVES: Nice-sized corner with a good head for the game. Effective backed off the line of scrimmage, quick to read or anticipate the action and displays an explosive break on the pass. Smooth in his hips, cognizant when the ball is in the air and works hard to defend the throw. Has a quick closing burst of speed and deflects away a lot of throws. Supports the run and makes a lot of tackles.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the quick and fluid back pedal, loses in transition and cannot run downfield with opponents. Seems intimidated lined up against speedier wide outs.

ANALYSIS: Corner skills and instincts coupled with a lack of real speed make him best suited as a nickel back in zone coverage.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
