KAI ELLIS
Position: DE
Class: Sr
School: Washington
Conference: Pac-10
Ht., Wt.: 6'3½, 237
40 Time: 4.75
Grade: 3.39

BIO: Junior college transfer awarded All-Conference honors last season. Posted 51 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks last season, also breaking up five passes and intercepting one. Second-team All-Conference choice as a junior after 39-2-0. Listed as a linebacker but rarely used in anything other than a three point stance.

POSITIVES: Athletic pass rusher with a good degree of upside potential for the next level. Leverage player who keeps his pads low to the ground, rushes the edge with speed and holds his ground against blocks. Fluid changing direction and pursues the action from the backside, displaying a good amount of range. Wedges his way up the field, stays with the play and rarely off his feet.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the explosive first step off the snap, slow shedding blocks and handled at the point even by opposing tight ends. Has difficulty if teams run in his direction.

ANALYSIS: Best suited to stand over tackle in a three-four alignment. Could be as a pass rush specialist as growth potential increases his value at the next level.

PROJECTION: Early Seventh Round
