SHAKA MARTIN
Position: OLB
Class: Sr
School: Rhode Island
Conference: Atlantic 10
Ht., Wt.: 6'1, 232
40 Time: 4.55
Grade: 3.05

BIO: Three-year starter who began his college career at Navy. All-Conference selection last year totaling 66 tackles, 10.5 for loss and 5 1/2 sacks. Numbers were 23-6-2 after starting the first seven games of the 2000 season, which came off the heels of 66-13-8 his second season with Navy. Did not play football in 2001. Basically lines up in a three point stance in the Rhode Island defensive scheme.

POSITIVES: Fluid athlete who relentlessly pursues the action. Breaks down well, gets leverage on opponents and quick off the snap of the ball. Redirects nicely, collapses laterally and displays a quick change of direction. Pursues from the backside with speed.

NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks, not strong and handled at the point of attack. Rarely used in space or asked to play off the line of scrimmage.

ANALYSIS: Rebounded after a pair of shaky years and seems to be heading in the right direction. Could be effective as an outside linebacker in a three-four scheme but a project in the works.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
