JASON GESSER
Jason Gesser - QB Position: QB
Class: Sr
School: Wash. St.
Conference: Pac-10
Ht., Wt.: 6'0½, 205
40 Time: 4.83
Grade: 3.48

BIO: Three-year starter who came off the bench as a red-shirt freshman and saw ex10sive action with the first team. All-Conference selection and Pac-10 co-Offensive Player of the Year as a senior completing 58.7 percent of his passes for 3,408 yards with 28 touchdown strikes and 13 INTs. Second-team All-Conference choice as a junior after tossing 53 percent-3,010-26-13. Led the league in passing yards and total offense in 2001. Awarded All-Academic honors the past three seasons.

POSITIVES: Competitive, self-made passer who effectively led the offense at Washington State. Displays excellent wherewithal in the pocket, on the same page as his receivers and finds the open wide out on the field. Patient and poised as the pocket collapses around him, stays with the play and eludes the rush, working to make something positive happen. Smartly places his throws in front of receivers and accurate in the short or intermediate field. Tough, withstands the rush and buys as much time as possible for wide outs. Team leader in complete control of the offense.

NEGATIVES: Back pedals into the pocket, rarely sets his feet and constantly releases the ball off his back foot. Lacks the consistent point of release and does more side winding rather than throwing over the top. Lacks the big arm, a situation exaggerated by inconsistent mechanics. Inaccurate when he tries to put velocity on his throws. Lacks stature and durability has been an issue in the past.

ANALYSIS: Does not possess the size to be a pocket passer at the next level, or the arm strength to get the job done on the move. Competitive nature and approach make him an asset to have on the sidelines as a possible third QB.
