BIO: Celebrated D-II QB who became GVSU's starting passer four games into his freshman campaign. Awarded the 2002 Harlon Hill Trophy as D-II's Most Outstanding Football Player after completing 67.1 percent for 3,692 yards with 47 TDs and six INTs. First-team All-American and All-Conference as a junior, finishing as a runner up in the Harlon Hill voting after completing 69.8 percent-3,273-49-3. Sophomore totals were 56.5 percent-1,903-10-6. Holds virtually all conference and school passing records and set NCAA D-II marks for total TDs (127), ranking second in total offense (11,538) and passing TDs (111).
POSITIVES: Extremely accurate QB best in the intermediate passing game. Sets up with solid fundamentals, looks off the safety and quickly releases the ball. Poised in the pocket, buys time and senses pressure. Looks off the safety, knows where his receivers are on the field and has good pocket sense. Sells the play action fake, poised and always finds the open wide out. Zips the outs yet at the same time puts touch on throws when needed.
NEGATIVES: Short and has passes batted at the line. Bounces around the pocket, does not always set his feet then winds up readying himself to make the throw. Cannot drive the ball downfield.
ANALYSIS: Possesses a good feel for the position and dominated a lower level of competition amassing great production numbers as well as a tremendous touchdown-to-interception ratio the past two seasons. Did not stand out during the Shrine Game when he played against better competition but will still have a shot at a practice squad come next September.
PROJECTION: Mid Seventh Round
