SHELDON DECKART
Position: OLB
Class: Sr
School: Utah
Conference: MWC
Ht., Wt.: 6'1½, 240
40 Time: 4.79
Grade: 3.29

BIO: Three-year starter who was an All-Conference selection after both his senior and junior campaigns. Totaled 69 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two INTs and three pass defenses last season after 86 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and six sacks the prior year. Posted 73 tackles his initial season with the first team.

POSITIVES: Explosive linebacker who makes plays in every direction of the field. Quick locating the ball, takes great angles to the play and displays sideline-to-sideline range. Viciously chases ball carriers around the field, scrapes well laterally and also gets depth on his pass drops. Disciplined, does not bite on play action passes nor does he get caught out of position. Forces the action up the field yet plays under control and snuffs out the ball carrier.

NEGATIVES: Compact build but short and engulfed by larger opponents. Slow getting off blocks even from opposing tight ends. Gets caught up in the wash moving laterally and has only a short area burst of speed.

ANALYSIS: Better defending the run than covering the pass and at the same time does not possess the speed to be placed on the weak side. Would be effective as an inside linebacker in a three-four scheme where he can be protected and flow to the ball.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
