Round 1, pick 19 (19 overall)
BIO: Four-year starter coming off the best season of his college career. Completed 53.4 percent of his passes for 2,815 yards with 28 TDs and 10 INTs as a senior, earning second team All-Conference honors. Junior numbers were 39.3 percent-1,741-12-10 after 46.7 percent-2,121-15-13 the prior year. Started eight games as a true freshman and passed for 38.6 percent-1,303-9-15. Performing brilliantly in the post season, dazzling scouts with tremendous athletic skills.

POSITIVES: Big-armed athlete apparently pulling the pieces together. Sets in the pocket with solid footwork, displays patience and stands in against the rush, buying time for receivers before getting the pass off. Quick releasing the ball, has a strong arm and zips the outs or drives his throws downfield. Passes immediately get to the in10ded target and loses nothing throwing on the run. Can escape pressure or pulls the ball down, taking off up the field if nothing is available and making positive plays with his legs.

NEGATIVES: Needs to gather himself before releasing the ball, stares down the primary target and forces the throw into coverage or tries to thread the needle between defenders. Still a bit indecisive and does not sense pressure in the pocket. Must learn to put touch on his throws rather than continually firing them into receivers. Though accurate, lacks the precise pass placement, throwing high of the mark or behind receivers on crossing routes.

ANALYSIS: Made a major leap in 2002 and began melding his natural abilities into the QB position. Still needs work, especially with the mental aspects of the position, but there is no reason to believe he cannot become a productive starting QB at the next level. Offers a great amount of upside potential but a large degree of downside risk. Making a major jump up draft boards.
