Grading System
JERRY SCHUMACHER
Position: ILB
Class: Sr
School: Illinois
Conference: Big Ten
Ht., Wt.: 6'1½, 235
40 Time: 5.05
Grade: 3.17

BIO: Three-year starter and second team All-Conference selection as a junior. Led the defense in 2002 with 123 tackles, also accounting for 11 1/2 tackles for loss, 41/2 sacks and defending four throws. Junior numbers were 125-17-6 after 104-2-0 the prior year.

POSITIVES: Smart, hard working linebacker limited by marginal athletic skills. Quickly reads or anticipates the action, takes good angles to the play and quick filling the gaps in run defense. Plays hard, QBs the defense and always looking to get involved in the action. Displays top tackling technique.

NEGATIVES: Not fast, fluid, lacks range or the ability to pursue the action with speed. A little stiff and has difficult redirecting.

ANALYSIS: At face value terrible size-speed numbers but the type of prospect who could endear himself to a coach's heart at the next level and one who would like the dirty work of special teams.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
