Round 3, pick 24 (88 overall)
BIO: Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year every season since his sophomore campaign. Completed 54.8 percent for 2,687 yards passing with 23 TDs and 10 INTs as a senior after 60.3 percent-3,056-10-7 the prior year and 61 percent-2,621-27-11 his initial year as the starting QB.

POSITIVES: Hard throwing lefty coming off a sluggish senior campaign. Sets up to deliver the pass with solid fundamentals and good footwork, sees the field and buys time for receivers. Throws the ball with an over the top motion, has a quick release and the intermediate passes have good speed. Senses the rush, gets outside the pocket and loses nothing throwing on the run. Displays a solid sense of timing, hits receivers in stride or immediately as they come out of their breaks. Withstands the rush in the pocket, very tough and takes a pounding yet gets the throw off. Pulls the ball down and takes off up the field if nothing is available and runs like a power back or linebacker after the interception. Very competitive and does not give up.

NEGATIVES: Early in college did not make bad decisions in the pocket but did more forcing of his throws and trying to get the pass into covered receivers as a senior. Not on the same page as his targets last year and was hit so many times he seemed to get antsy in the pocket, quickly pulling the ball down or shuffling his feet before throwing the ball.

ANALYSIS: Looked as though he developed a bad case of cabin fever due to the inadequate talent blocking for him in 2002 and the poor targets on the opposite end of his passes. Did more spraying of his passes last season then in the past. Did comeback and have a great throwing workout at the Scouting Combine. Possesses the physical skills to be a productive starting QB at the next level. A prospect that may slip down draft boards and could turn out to be a real bargain.
