Round 1, pick 5 (5 overall)
BIO: All-America and All-Conference pick as a senior and honored as the Thorpe Award winner as the nation's top defensive back. Finished the season with 54 tackles, 5 INTs and a team leading 14 pass breakups. Also averaged 28.5 yards on 13 kick returns, bringing one back into the end zone for a touchdown and 14.9 yards on 26 punt returns with two scores. Used sparingly at receiver and caught four passes for 98 yards with one touchdown. Second-team Big 12 selection as a junior totaling 51-3-14 on defense and averaging 23.4 yards on nine kick returns. Also blocked two kicks during the season. Top back-up his first two seasons in the program when he ran track and field, winning consecutive 100 meter championships in the Big 12. Born September of 1978 and will be a 25-year-old rookie next season.

POSITIVES: Explosive, shut down corner with great playing speed. Displays top footwork off the line, fluid hip movement and loses nothing in transition. Quickly plants and breaks on the ball, possesses a great burst of closing or recovery speed and makes a lot of plays on the ball. Reads receivers eyes, turns back to the pass and effectively times his defenses. Gets vertical and deflects away the high throw. Explosive return specialist who runs to daylight if given the slightest bit of open space and immediately alters the tempo of a contest. Displayed solid receiving skills last year and looks the ball in, catching it away from his body.

NEGATIVES: Not strong at the point of attack, does not slow receivers at the line with his jams and out positioned by bigger opponents. Pulls up rather than taking on blocks defending the run and not always the first to jump into the fray.

ANALYSIS: An immediate starter at the next level who will help a team in a variety of ways. Needs to improve his upper body strength and intensity defending the run, but all things considered, a very good prospect.

PROJECTION: Early First Round
