CALVIN CARLYLE
Position: S
Class: Sr
School: Oregon St.
Conference: Pac-10
Ht., Wt.: 5'11, 186
40 Time: 4.59
Grade: 3.4

BIO: Three-year starter who posted 47 tackles, two INTs and eight pass defenses as a senior after 49-0-1 during his junior campaign of 2000 and 53-1-7 the prior year. Had his season cut short in 2001 after a season ending shoulder injury shelved him two games into the season.

POSITIVES: Athletic defensive back that can effectively play a number of positions in the secondary. Displays good cover skills in man-to-man situations, runs downfield with opponents and shows solid corner techniques. Moves well laterally, plays sideline-to-sideline and a cognizant defender with good ball awareness. Flies around the ball, yet keeps the action in front of him.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the great burst of recovery speed and not strong at the point of attack. Does not time well for a corner, lacks size for a safety and persis10t shoulder problems are omnipresent.

ANALYSIS: May go unselected due to durability questions but if his shoulder holds up, a competent nickel back at the next level.

PROJECTION: Early Seventh Round
