Round 6, pick 28 (201 overall)
BIO: First-team All-Conference choice as a senior after leading the league in passing, passing efficiency and total offense. Completed 67.3 percent of his throws for 5,017 yards with 45 TDs and 13 INTs. Big 12 second team choice as a junior after posting 66.8 percent-4,642-42-12. Moved in with the first unit as a red-shirt sophomore and totaled 61.9 percent-3,418-21-17. Awarded academic honors on several occasions.

POSITIVES: Efficient and intelligent pocket passer more a product of the system. Scans the field, takes what the defense gives him and puts touch on his passes, throwing a catchable ball. Sells all his fakes, places screen throws in front of targets and lets receivers run to the ball. Senses the rush, gets rid of the pass and does not force his throws. Displays a good sense of timing and immediately releases the ball on the quick outs. Shows good wherewithal and a sense for what is happening on the field.

NEGATIVES: Releases a lot of passes off his back foot or falls out of his throws altogether. Changes his point of release and has a three-quarters delivery. Lacks pocket stature and cannot withstand the rush or elude defenders. Lacks any arm strength and cannot drive the ball downfield or zip the outs.

ANALYSIS: A quality person and hard working football player limited by the lack of physical skills. May be able to build his body and improve his arm but very much like former Cal passer Troy Taylor, though not as nifty.

PROJECTION: Early Sixth Round
