BIO: Sacramento City JC transfer who made an immediate impact at Iowa State upon arrival. Second-team All-Conference selection last season after completing 55.1 percent of his throws for 3,245 yards with 15 scores and 18 INTs. Also carried the ball 123 times for 437 yards with eight scores. Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-League pick as a junior after throwing 62.1 percent-2,044-11-9 and totaling 114-475-7 on the ground. POSITIVES: Explosive athlete who makes plays in every area of the field. Sets up with solid footwork, scans the field and looks off the safety. Strong arm and throws a nice deep ball or puts air under his corner patterns. Accurate in the short or intermediate field and hits targets in stride across the middle. Loses nothing throwing on the run. Does not force his throws and pulls the ball down, taking off up the field if nothing is available. NEGATIVES: Never sets his feet in the pocket rather shuffle and slides them which impedes his accuracy. Sprays his long throws. Antsy in the pocket as a senior and did not display the poise or patience as was the case the prior season. Lack of height is a problem as he has difficulty seeing over the line. Refused to work out at receiver during the Scouting Combine. ANALYSIS: Performed well at both the Senior Bowl and combine proving he is a viable passer in the short field. Inability to see the running lanes and the necessity to constantly roll outside of tackle present a problem and may prevent him from being a starter and the next level, but can be used as a signal caller in goal line situations and possibly be placed in other areas of the field.
