CORY REDDING
Cory Redding - DE Position: DE
Class: Sr
School: Texas
Conference: Big 12
Ht., Wt.: 6'4, 279
40 Time: 4.71
Grade: 3.99

Selected by Detroit Lions
Round 3, pick 2 (66 overall)
BIO: First-team All-Conference selection as a senior after 76 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 81/2 sacks. Again, Big 12 choice as a junior, after 57-14-5 also adding an interception. Sophomore totals were 52-6.5-17 and named Defensive Freshman of the Year the prior campaign posting 26-2-2. Ran poorly during individuals workouts clocking close to a 4.90 at 280-pounds.

POSITIVES: Durable lineman effective up the field or in space. Plays with leverage, keeps his pad level low and holds the point. Quick changing direction, flatens and pursues the action laterally with speed. Moves well and displays excellent range. Immediately locates the action and makes plays in all directions of the field. Battles with his hands and immediately adjusts to the oncoming ball handler. Makes a lot of plays in the backfield.

NEGATIVES: Pushed from his angle of attack, has difficulty if teams run at him and disappears at times. Lacks the great first step off the snap.

ANALYSIS: Tough defender who's been productive throughout college. Should flourish at right end in a 4-3 alignment and a prospect who could break into the starting unit as a rookie.

PROJECTION: Early Second Round
