BIO: Started two of the previous three seasons, leading the team in receiving as a senior with 45/520/3. Suffered with an ankle injury throughout his junior campaign and was never 100 percent, yet still managed 25/268/1. Broke out as a sophomore with receiving numbers of 40/790/7, averaging 19.8 yards per catch. Also ranked second in the NCAA averaging 16.0 yards on 19 punt returns.
POSITIVES: Small, slippery wide out, elusive when the ball's in his hands. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage, runs good routes and gets separation from opponents. Tracks the deep pass, looks the ball into his hands and tough running after the catch. Resilient and goes over the middle of the field to make the difficult reception in a crowd. Quick footed and explosive, yet intelligent in all aspects of his game.
NEGATIVES: More quick than fast and lacks the second gear or ability to get separation down the field. Lacks the strong hands and cannot pluck the ball out of the air. Gives effort blocking but gets marginal results.
ANALYSIS: Powell is a prototypical fifth receiver that must excel as a return specialist. A good fit as a third down slot receiver, returning punts will be his bread and butter at the next level.
