Position:QB Class: Sr School:
Wash. St. Conference:
Pac-10 Ht., Wt.: 6'4, 220 40 Time: 4.98 Grade: 3.21
BIO: Moved into the starting lineup and played 13 games despite severe knee and shoulder injuries, posting 55.3 percent/2,947/21/15. Played in seven games as a junior replacing the injured Jason Gesser, completing 67.5 percent of his passes for 211 yards. Cousin to former Cougar quarterback Ryan Leaf.
POSITIVES: Tough, pocket passer with adequate arm strength and accuracy. Patient, accurately places his throws with possesses nice touch. Goes through receiver progressions, quickly finds the open wide out and does not force the issue. Competitive and plays with injury.
NEGATIVES: Does not always set his feet properly and occasionally tosses the questionable pass off his back foot. Cannot drive the ball downfield and slow delivering the ball off a three-step drop.
ANALYSIS: Considering his lack of starting experience plus the injuries, Kegel did a solid job as a senior. Warrants free-agent consideration as he has the frame to get bigger which will only improve his arm strength.
