BIO: Part-time starter the past two years and productive in his limited role. Carried the ball 156/561/3 as a senior, also catching 10 passes for 104 yards. Averaged 22.9 yards on 10 kick returns. Junior totals were 123/612/5 on the ground with 70/672/5 catching the ball.
POSITIVES: Inconsistent, yet productive collegiate runner that's never taken his game to the next level. Strong ballhandler who displays quickness through the hole, picks up yardage off initial contact, yet also runs with a good degree of intelligence. Sees the field, follows blocks, then sets up defenders, making them miss. Patient, uses an effective straight arm and gets through the small creases in the defense. Quickly cuts back against the grain and finds his way through the trash picking up positive yardage. Solid receiver out of the backfield and tough running after the catch, keeping the play in bounds and picking up positive yardage.
NEGATIVES: Has an upright style, lacks explosion and cannot run to daylight. Also better on the inside and does not display speed, cut the corner or beat defenders to the flanks.
ANALYSIS: After a solid junior campaign when it looked like Raymond was about to take his game to the next level, he did not meet expectations in 2003. Runs with the style of an interior ball carrier but lacks the size to take a pounding on an every down basis at the next level. Stood out as a pass-catcher during the 2002 season which will get him into a camp next summer.
