BIO: Wyoming’s leading receiver, finishing his senior campaign catching 68/815/5 after a junior season of 35/417/3. Posted 65/751 as a sophomore which came on the heels of a freshman campaign of 63/696.
POSITIVES: Nice-sized receiver with a good feel for the position. Easily gets off jams at the line of scrimmage, quick releasing into pass routes and settles into the open spot on the field. Uses his frame to shield away defenders and protect the pass, extends then pulls the high throw out of the air. Adequate route runner that separates from defenders.
NEGATIVES: Lacks deep speed or ability to get separation down the field. Marginal blocking skills for a big-bodied receiver. All to often lets the pass get inside of him rather than catching the ball away from his frame.
ANALYSIS: Benefiting from a pass-happy offense, McGuffey has been productive throughout college but does not possess the top upside for the next level. Football instincts and good size gives him a chance to catch on as a team's fifth wide out.
