BIO: Full-time starter the past three seasons after being pressed into action for six games as a freshman. Named to several All-American teams the past two years and has won all-conference honors since his sophomore campaign.
POSITIVES: Hard-working blocker with nice growth potential. Patient, effectively uses blocking angles or body positioning to wall defenders from the play and strong in his upper body. Controls defenders at the point and anchors in pass protection. Starts with a wide base, stays square and works his feet throughout the action. Blocks down well on opponents and engulfs defenders.
NEGATIVES: Not quick or explosive off the snap, lacks adjustment and gets tall as the play proceeds. Not overly effective in space or blocking in motion.
ANALYSIS: McFarland offers solid size as well as football intelligence. Could develop into a spot starter and should be a prospect that offers depth at the next level.
