BIO: Two-year starter who carried the ball 29/126/1 score as a senior. Began his career at linebacker after spending his first two seasons as a special- teams player.
POSITIVES: Hard-working lead fullback still learning the position. Quick off the snap into blocks, squares into defenders then walls opponents from the action. Can slide laterally in pass protection, strong in his lower body and does the little things well. Redirects to oncoming opponents and tough in all aspects. Some power running on the inside with the ability to break tackles.
NEGATIVES: Slows, then gathers into blocks which hampers his ability to finish defenders off. Best between tackle and can not get outside around the corner or create space for his running back. Not a natural receiver.
ANALYSIS: Cervantes has the size and tenacity to compete as a blocking fullback in a power running system. Needs time, repetition and must be more decisive on the football field to ultimately make it. Special teams experience in the past is a plus.
