BIO: Sustained an ankle injury early in his senior campaign and played in nine games totaling 127/646/6 on the ground. Played in six games after sustaining a strained stomach muscle, torn groin muscle and injuring a shoulder as a junior, posting rushing numbers of 72/341/1. Career numbers in 2001 included 219/1,242/10 on the ground and 40/359/2 as a pass-catcher. Named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and was named to several all-conference and All American teams that year.
POSITIVES: Quick, elusive runner with top ball carrying skills but questionable durability. Sees the field, quick-footed and runs with a slashing style. Immediately cuts back against the grain, elusive and creates if nothing's available. Runs with both vision and instinct, finding the open area on the field. Tough on the inside and weaves his way through the traffic, then falls forward when tackled. Deceptively strong in his lower body. Solid hands out of the backfield.
NEGATIVES: Lacks intensity and skill as a blocker. Constantly injured the past two seasons which severely cut into his playing time.
ANALYSIS: At the top of his game Perry is an excellent situational type runner as explosion, elusiveness and pass-catching skills would fit a variety of offenses. But the inability to stay healthy will drop this once promising prospect deep into the draft.
