BIO: Two-year starter that posted 69/11/6 as a junior after 46/6/1 the previous year. Used at both defensive tackle and end in the MSU defensive scheme.
POSITIVES: Big, inside thumper still rough around the edges. Plays with balance, leverage and immediately adjusts off the initial block. Gets off the ball with a nice first step, quickly changes direction and rarely off his feet. Resilient and keeps coming. Looks more athletic on film than he tested during the Combine.
NEGATIVES: Neutralized by a single blocker or driven off the line. Lacks suddenness and a closing burst of speed. Makes plays laterally but lacks top playing range.
ANALYSIS: Possessing the underlying abilities to play in the NFL, Askew is still raw and needed another season of college football to mature. May have difficulty adjusting at the next level and could be drafted much later than most suggest.
