Position:S Class: Sr School:
Oklahoma Conference:
Big 12 Ht., Wt.: 5'11½, 194 40 Time: 4.55 Grade: 3.56
BIO: Three-year starter who totaled 60/1/4 as a senior although he played half the season with a rotator cuff injury that required surgery in January. All-American the prior season after totaling 94/6/11. Sophomore numbers were 55/2/8.
POSITIVES: Explosive defensive back who competes hard and works to make positive plays. Quick moving up the field to defend the run, immediately locates the ball and flies around the action. Displays both closing and recovery speed, solid techniques in coverage as well as in reactions to the ball. Tough and plays with pain; surgery on his rotator cuff was suggested back in October, yet he decided to play the rest of the season with a severely injured joint.
NEGATIVES: Does not break down well and has poor tackling technique. Does not take good angles to the play, inefficient and over-pursues the action. Still rehabbing from January's surgery and may not be able to workout until the middle of April.
ANALYSIS: A key element of the Oklahoma defense since his sophomore season, Everage has been an intimidating force in center field. Best in a zone system where his man-cover skills will be kept camouflaged. Could be a value pick in the middle rounds.
