BIO: Moved in and out of the starting lineup the past two seasons. Played in six games as a senior, catching 3/37/2. Junior totals were 6/45/2 after 5/63/1 as a sophomore. Several off the field incidents in the past led to suspension.
POSITIVES: Athletic prospect that can be a complete tight end. Quickly releases off the line into pass routes, runs well and makes the difficult catch over the middle. Adjusts to the errant throw and a good red zone target. Bends his knees, blocks with leverage, walls opponents from the action. Displays strength and the ability to get movement from run blocks yet also slides laterally in pass protection.
NEGATIVES: Lacks the soft, consistent hands and prone to dropping the easy pass on occasion. Not an active part in the passing game. Must improve the use of blocking angles. Character is a question.
ANALYSIS: Physically gifted, Johnson has flashed the abilities to dominate in several areas of the game yet has not met his upper level of achievement. Background must be checked out but has a chance to play at the next level if he makes football a priority.
