Position:TE Class: Sr School:
Alabama St. Conference:
SWAC Ht., Wt.: 6'2½, 228 40 Time: 4.6 Grade: 3.32
BIO: Sat out the 2003 season after being ruled academically ineligible. Started eight games as a junior, catching 17/185/6 after 42/620/9 as a sophomore in 2001. Averaged 15.1 yards per catch on 76 receptions in his college career.
POSITIVES: Athletic tight end that displays natural pass-catching skills. Quick getting off the line, uses outstanding technique to release from jams and immediately gets into pass routes. Plays to his 40 time and fast in any direction. Adjusts to the errant throw, extends and looks the ball in. Reliable soft hands. Blocks with good knee bend, forward lean and jolts opponents at the point.
NEGATIVES: Not alert picking up blocking assignments. Lacks the dominant size or strength to be an in-line blocker. Minimal experience and productivity the past two seasons.
ANALYSIS: After being sidelined last season, Coleman has fallen off most radar screens. That said, he has terrific raw potential as either a big slot receiver or pass catching tight end at the next level. Must remain focused on the task at hand but has the skills to succeed.
