BIO: First team all-conference and All-American selection as a senior after catching 72/810/3. Moved into the starting lineup as a junior and totaled 41/505/4.
POSITIVES: Smart, instinctive football player with an excellent feel for the game. Fluid releasing off the line of scrimmage, adequate route runner and offers the quarterback a big, imposing target. Uses his hands to get off jams at the line of scrimmage, shields defenders away with his frame then extends his hands and looks the pass in. Reliable, displays good eye-hand coordination and plucks the throw out of the air. Uses the sidelines well, goes over the middle in traffic and a solid third-down receiver. Blocks with good lean, leverage and body positioning. Displays intensity as a blocker and gets out to the second level destroying linebackers.
NEGATIVES: Neither quick nor fast and has trouble when he must adjust running full speed. Lacks blocking balance and limited as an athlete.
ANALYSIS: In essence Lawrie is a tight end in an offensive tackle's body. Must improve his blocking but his pass-catching skills are enticing and could help him find his way onto a roster as a backup.
