BIO: Four-year starter who began his college career at Oklahoma State. Senior totals included 56/25/7.5 after 49/12/4.5 as a junior. Started 13 games as a sophomore posting 64/27/6 and registered 63/11/4 as a freshman. First team all-conference selection the past four seasons and awarded varying degrees of All-American honors during each campaign.
POSITIVES: Tremendous competitor who brings a lot of explosiveness to the defensive line. Immediately gets off the ball with a terrific first step, quick locating the action and displays a closing burst of speed. Strong, plays with leverage and defeats blocks or pushes double-teams up the field. Makes plays laterally up and down the line of scrimmage, never gives up and has a nasty streak. Known as a high character person with a top work ethic and a prospect that spends a lot of time in the film room.
NEGATIVES: More of a short-area burst rather than sustained speed. Lacks height, natural bulk and engulfed by big-bodied lineman.
ANALYSIS: A high-intensity prospect that overachieves, McConnell is an asset both on and off the field. Lacks the true size-speed numbers to be a top prospect but a late-round choice that may be tough to cut at the next level.
