BIO: Second team All-Conference choice as a senior after posting 28/12/5. Missed the entire 2003 season following surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. Started six games as a true junior and registered 37/9/5.
POSITIVES: Athletic defensive lineman effective stopping the run or rushing the passer. Explodes off the snap with a quick first step, plays low with leverage and holds his ground against double teams. Fast off the edge when placed at end and fluid making plays up and down the line of scrimmage. Displays footwork moving laterally, immediately alters his angle of attack or redirects to ballcarriers. Gets pushed up the field and exploits immobile blockers.
NEGATIVES: Undersized for tackle and engulfed at the point. Struggles getting off blocks if he does not beat opponents with the first move.
ANALYSIS: A lineman that has flashed ability throughout college, Davis had his career slowed by injury. Possesses plenty of upside potential for the next level, and capped off a good campaign in 2004 with a terrific Senior Bowl. The arrow is pointing up and has possibilities at defensive tackle or as two-gap lineman.
