BIO: Four-year starter who posted 51 percent/865/3/7 as a senior when he played in eight games. Pulled from the starting lineup because of a bad ankle and ineffective play. Posted career numbers as a junior with 56.5 percent/3,107/23/13.
POSITIVES: Well-sized athletic passer whose college career was marked with inconsistency. Zips the outs, drives the pass downfield and makes all the throws. Senses pressure and steps up to avoid it. Rolls out and makes the throw on the move. Tough and stands in the pocket, taking a hit in order to get the throw off. Shakes off would-be tacklers and withstands the rush.
NEGATIVES: Does not see the field and makes poor choices. Pats the ball and gathers into his release. Sets up in the pocket as though he were a left-handed thrower, which slows his delivery. Steps out of throws or releases the ball off his back foot. Displayed horrible downfield accuracy as a senior.
ANALYSIS: After showing flashes of skill as a junior, Rix took a major step back last year. His penchant for making the adverse choice or bad throw is troublesome. Needs a lot of coaching and hand holding, yet physical skills may get him an invite to camp.
