2005 NFL Draft Draft Tracker Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5 Round 6 Round 7 Players Positions Schools Conferences NFL Teams

 Jermelle Lewis Grade: 2.84
 Position: HB
 Class: Sr
 School: Iowa
 Conference: Big Ten
 Ht., Wt.: 5-9, 220
 40 Time: 4.52

BIO: Played in seven games as a senior, posting 57/230/1 on the ground. Totaled a career best of 123/709/8 as a sophomore while also averaging 25.7 on 14 kick returns. Suffered a pair of major knee injuries each of the last two seasons.

POSITIVES: Undersized yet explosive back whose career has been marred with injury. Patient ballcarrier who waits for blocks to develop, displays footwork in a small and makes defenders miss. Can wiggle off tackles, quickly cut back against the grain, and displays a straight-line burst of speed. Solid pass catcher out of the backfield.

NEGATIVES: Easily brought down by the first opponent and not picking up yardage off initial contact. Not a ballcarrier who can string several moves together in a single hand-off.

ANALYSIS: A good-looking athlete with solid size/speed numbers, Lewis has had major durability problems the past two years. Likely to be medically red flagged and at best a camp invitee.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
