J.R. Russell - WR

 J.R. Russell Grade: 3.66
 Position: WR
 Class: Sr
 School: Louisville
 Conference: C-USA
 Ht., Wt.: 6-3, 206
 40 Time: 4.57
  Selected by: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  Round 7, pick 39 (253 overall)

BIO: All-Conference selection as a senior who led the league in receiving posting 67/909/6. Career numbers came as a junior and included 75/1,213/8.

POSITIVES: Consistent pass catcher with adequate size/speed numbers. Settles into the open spot on the field, comes back to the ball and offers the quarterback a nice target. Displays good eye/hand coordination, looks the ball into his hands and effectively uses his frame to shield away opponents. Adjusts well to the errant throw or extends vertically to pull the pass from the air. Makes the tough catch in traffic and displays good concentration. Sells routes and displays moves in the open field. Nasty blocker who looks to take opponents.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the speed to beat defenders deep and cannot run to the long throw. Tends to gather or slow into breaks. More of a long strider and lacks an explosive burst of speed. Work ethic has been questioned in the past.

ANALYSIS: A consistent receiver who makes both the easy and difficult receptions with regularity, Russell nicely projects as a third wide out at the next level. May need some time to adjust but can play in the NFL if he puts forth the effort.

PROJECTION: Mid Third Round
