BIO: Four-year starter and an All-Conference player as a junior and senior.
POSITIVES: King-sized offensive lineman best in confined quarters. Nasty blocker strong at the point of attack, controlling opponents once engaged in a block. Effectively uses blocking angles, keeps his feet moving throughout the action and patient in pass protection. Gets movement from run blocks and destroys opponents.
NEGATIVES: Stiff, not flexible and lacks footwork in space. Only effective straight ahead. Does not display much quickness or explosion into blocks. Had shoulder surgery after the first of the year and will not be ready to play until May.
ANALYSIS: A huge blocker with solid size/speed numbers, Pears is a hard worker with an understanding of the game. Can be a dominant blocker, yet must improve his flexibility and learn to block in space to have any chance of playing at the next level.
