BIO: Three year starter and All-America recipient last season after totaling 42/11/6.5.
POSITIVES: Explosive pass rushing defensive end who makes a lot of plays up the field. Keeps low to the ground playing with forward lean, moves well laterally and makes plays up and down the line of scrimmage. Defeats blocks with an array of moves, redirects to the action and a hard working player who defends the run as well as rushes the passer.
NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks once engaged at the point of attack. Has a tendency to try and take wide angles around opponents and avoid blocks. Does not have a sustained burst of speed. Marginal skills dropped off the line in space.
ANALYSIS: Possessing only marginal size/speed numbers, Mooney has done well against small school competition. Must add bulk to his frame to make it as a reserve in the NFL.
