2005 NFL Draft Draft Tracker Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5 Round 6 Round 7 Players Positions Schools Conferences NFL Teams

 Roland Colbert Grade: 2.97
 Position: HB
 School: Howard
 Conference: MEAC
 Ht., Wt.: 5-5.5, 195
 40 Time: 4.58

BIO: Two-year starter and All-Conference selection as a return specialist last season after averaging 16.7 yards on 12 punt returns and 20.1 yards on 19 kick returns. Also totaled 204/1,018/8 on the ground and added eight receptions.

POSITIVES: Quick-footed, elusive runner with the ability to be a change-of-pace back and return specialist at the next level. Runs with excellent balance and body control. Displays the speed and agility to get outside around tackle. Finds the small creases in the defense, squirts through the hole and has a little wiggle in his running. Runs low to the ground and gets lost behind blockers. Explosive return specialist with the ability to instantaneously change the momentum of a game.

NEGATIVES: Lacks soft hands as a receiver. Not a true burner or ballcarrier who can run to daylight. Does not pick up yardage off initial contact.

ANALYSIS: A multi-purpose ball handler, Colbert has size limitations yet could find a home as a third-down back whose primary duties lay on special teams. The ability to produce as a both a kick and punt returner in camp this summer will dictate the future he has at the next level.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
