2005 NFL Draft Draft Tracker Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5 Round 6 Round 7 Players Positions Schools Conferences NFL Teams

 James Young Grade: 2.76
 Position: S
 School: Geo. Southern
 Conference: Southern
 Ht., Wt.: 6-1, 215
 40 Time: 4.5

BIO: Three-year starter and All-Conference selection in the past. Finished his senior campaign with 40/2/2.

POSITIVES: Big, imposing safety who makes a lot of athletic plays. Explosive, hard-hitting and tees off on ballcarriers. Displays good hands for the pick.

NEGATIVES: Indecisive in pass coverage, has difficulty in man-to-man situations and only effective facing the quarterback. Not fluid in his hips and slow locating the ball. Takes poor angles to the action and not efficient. More built-up speed than a sudden burst.

ANALYSIS: A player who passes the eyeball test, Young will need a lot of time to smooth out the rough edges of his game. Best and possibly only shot could be as a strong safety who plays up in the box. Computer numbers are enticing, which will get him an invite to camp.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
