2006 NFL Draft Draft Tracker Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5 Round 6 Round 7 Players Positions Schools Conferences

 Paul Pinegar Grade: 3.23
 Position: QB
 Class: Sr
 School: Fresno State
 Conference: Western Athletic
 Ht., Wt.: 6-5, 232
 40 Time: 5.17

BIO: Four-year starter awarded varying degrees of All-Conference honors since his freshman campaign. Senior passing totals included 63.7%/3,335/30/15.

POSITIVES: Intelligent, short-yardage passer who lacks an NFL arm. Effectively reads the defense, looks off the safety and buys time for receivers. Goes through progressions, senses the rush and displays a good sense of timing. Sells the ball fakes, sets up screen passes and does not force throws if targets are covered. Moves behind the line of scrimmage to give himself a better view of the field.

NEGATIVES: Cannot drive the deep pass and/or zip the outs. Throws flat-footed and does not properly follow through over his top foot. Inaccurate outside of 15 yards.

ANALYSIS: A tough, vocal leader on the field, Pinegar comes off a terrific senior campaign which elevated his draft stock. Lacks great upside for the next level yet could be an effective back-up for a timing offense.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
