BIO: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors since his junior campaign. Posted 29/3/11 as a senior after 22/3/12 the prior year.
POSITIVES: Nice-sized cornerback with a developing game. Displays solid awareness, quickly locates the ball and nicely times his defenses. Displays a good break to the ball, fights to defend throws and physical. Engages opponents off the line and supports the run.
NEGATIVES: Not effective in reverse and quickly comes out of his back pedal. Does a lot of grab tackling. Marginal hands for the interception.
ANALYSIS: Possessing solid size and an aggressive style, Lay is best backed off the line of scrimmage or in a zone system. Could develop into a starter at the next level if he continues to progress.
