BIO: Two-year starter who posted 48/14.5/10 last season after 60/16.5/8.5 the prior year. All-Conference selection as a junior and senior.
POSITIVES: Hard-working defender who plays with great energy. Fast off the edge and makes plays down the line of scrimmage. Gets leverage on opponents playing with good pad level and is rarely off his feet. Works his hands throughout the action, displays balance and body control. Immediately alters his angle of attack or changes direction. Instinctive, locates the ball and stays with plays.
NEGATIVES: Undersized, can be controlled at the point or removed from the action by fullbacks. Takes wide angles around opponents to avoid blocks altogether.
ANALYSIS: An intense defender with great work habits, Tapp is best suited as a one-gap defensive end or rush linebacker. Lacks the eye-catching size/speed numbers but his production on the field is impressive.
