Ray Edwards - DE

 Ray Edwards Grade: 3.71
 Position: DE
 Class: Jr
 School: Purdue
 Conference: Big Ten
 Ht., Wt.: 6-4.5, 273
 40 Time: 4.83
  Selected by: Minnesota Vikings
  Round 4, pick 30 (127 overall)

BIO: Moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore producing 45/11/8. Yanked from the starting lineup last year, finishing with 28/11/5.5.

POSITIVES: Playmaking defensive end coming off a poor campaign. Flashes quickness off the snap, plays with good pad level and makes plays laterally. Fast off the edge, has a closing burst and redirects to ball handlers. Tough to handle once he gets the first step on opponents.

NEGATIVES: Not instinctive and slow locating the ball. Must improve his overall playing strength to break control by opposing tight ends.

ANALYSIS: Edwards took a major step backward last season after looking like a star in .04. Lost his starting job and made a mistake entering the draft. Second-day selection with good upside if he focuses on the task at hand.

PROJECTION: Mid Third Round
