Brian Smith
SI Grade
School: Conference: Ht., Wt.:
6-3.5, 222
40 Time:

BIOGRAPHY: Full-time starter the past two seasons, awarded All-Conference honors after each campaign. Played eight games as a senior before breaking his hip and totaled 30/9.5/7.5. Junior totals were 66/17/9.

POSITIVES: Undersized collegiate defensive end who projects as a rush linebacker in the NFL. Quick off the snap, fast off the edge and shows abilities in pursuit. Solid hand technician who displays an array of moves to get off blocks.

NEGATIVES: Easily knocked from his angle of attack and purposely takes wide angles around blockers to get to the action. Does not time well in the 40.

ANALYSIS: A .tweener, Smith lacks the size for defensive end and the pure speed to be used in space. He will be looked at as a pass rush specialist who stands up over tackle or lines up in a three-point stance.

PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round
