Position:
WR
Class:
Sr
School: Conference: Ht., Wt.:
6-1, 220
40 Time:

BIOGRAPHY: Played receiver, quarterback and safety in the starting lineup last season. Passing numbers were 58.6%/1,316/12/7, also adding 12 receptions and 18 tackles. Junior receiving totals were 27/297/2 in seven games. Experienced kick returner.

POSITIVES: Terrific athlete with outstanding size. Solid pass-catcher who effectively picks up yardage after the catch. Makes the difficult reception in traffic and catches the ball with his hands. Displays both awareness and range at safety.

NEGATIVES: Jack-of-all-trades and master of none, due to all the position switching. Not known as a hard worker.

ANALYSIS: Unselfishly moving around the field due to numerous injuries and suspensions in the South Carolina lineup, Newton is a prospect with terrific upside potential. Will be given looks at both receiver and safety as a rookie and offers the skills to excel on special teams.

PROJECTION: Middle Sixth Round
