BIOGRAPHY: Walk-on who moved into the starting lineup during his junior season. Missed the entire 2006 season recovering from a stress fracture in his right leg.
POSITIVES: Nice-sized center who has flashed ability throughout his college career. Blocks with good pad level, explodes off the snap, and removes defenders from the action. Shows ability in space, keeps his feet moving, and nicely works his hands. Fundamentally sound. Plays with a nasty attitude and blocks down on opponents.
NEGATIVES: Must improve his shotgun snaps. Lacks the dominant base and gets pushed back off the line. Has a history of injuries, which kept him on the sidelines.
ANALYSIS: Mattran has the size and intelligence to play at the next level. He offers a good degree of upside, yet he must stay healthy to have any real chance of making a roster.
