BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter who saw extensive time with the first team as a sophomore. Played in just three games last season recording 7/2/.5. Suspended on three different occasions last year for conduct detrimental to the team. Arrested in October and charged with suspicion of driving drunk. Junior-year totals included 22/4.5/2. Also blocked three kicks that season.

POSITIVES: Massive interior lineman with the physical skills to play at the next level. Possesses terrific first-step quickness, moves well for a big man, and powerful in his lower body. Drives opponents off the ball, collapses the pocket, and holds his ground against double teams.

NEGATIVES: Struggles changing direction and more of a straight-line defender. Does not use his hands to protect himself. Poorly conditioned and easily wears down.

ANALYSIS: Physically, Shirley grades out as a top-60 selection and he has the ability to be used at several interior positions on the defensive line. He lacks consistent effort, has made poor choices, and does nothing more than rely on his natural skills. As a result, he won.t be selected in the draft.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
