BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded All-Conference honors the past two seasons. Started 51 games during his college career.
POSITIVES: Tough, durable small-area blocker who makes the most of his abilities. Quickly gets into blocks, explosive at the point, and plays with a nasty attitude. Jolts defenders with good-punch, anchors at the point, and plays hard until the whistle blows. Effective position blocker who stays square and seals defenders from the action. Intelligent, keeps his head on a swivel, and works well with teammates.
NEGATIVES: Played right tackle during his senior season, but did not show enough footwork or lateral blocking range to protect the edge. Sets with a narrow base and not a dominant drive-blocker who turns defenders off the ball.
ANALYSIS: Schuening has been an outstanding player on the college level and he projects well to the NFL. He's a hard-working lineman who does the little things well and understands his position. He may never develop into a Pro Bowl player, yet he could have a long and prosperous professional career as a starter.
