BIOGRAPHY: Former tailback who moved to receiver as a sophomore and started his final two seasons in the program. All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 91/1125/4 and averaging 23.3 yards on 20 kick returns. Junior-year totals included 53/859/9 catching the ball.

POSITIVES: Well-built receiver with consistent hands. Plays with excellent body control, gets vertical in a crowd, and adjusts to the errant throw. Comes down with the difficult reception. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, displays good eye/hand coordination, and effortlessly grabs the pass from the air. Effectively uses the sidelines and always works to make himself an available target. Above-average route-runner who displays quickness into breaks and stays low on exit.

NEGATIVES: Lazily comes off the line if he's not involved in the action. Lacks the second gear and more of a one-speed receiver. Loses focus and take his eyes off the ball, which results in dropped passes.

ANALYSIS: Smith has made major strides in his game the past two seasons and is one of the more underrated receiving prospects in the nation. He offers a solid game and will be a productive player at the next level if he improves the details of his position.
