Jason Phillips
SELECTED BY: Ravens Round 5 (1)
SI Grade
3.44
Position: Class:
Senior
School: Conference: Ht., Wt.:
6-0.5, 239
40 Time:
4.62

BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his freshman campaign. TCU's leading tackler the past two seasons, with numbers of 79/12/3.5 as a senior and 87/11/2 the prior year. Posted at least 70 tackles every season in college.

POSITIVES: High-revving defender who sells out and sacrifices his body to make the play. Smart football player who remains disciplined with assignments and shows great explosion on the field. Strong for his size, quickly fills gaps in run defense or sells out on the blitz. Chases hard to get involved in the action, has a burst of speed, and fluid moving in reverse. Effectively holds his ground against blocks. Plays with a good degree of suddenness.

NEGATIVES: Over-pursues the action at times, does not play under control, and takes too many steps. Undersized and smothered by blocks.

ANALYSIS: Phillips possesses a solid all-around game, yet he has size limitations that will hinder him at the next level. He may be best on the outside in a one-gap system that allows him to freely flow to the action.

PROJECTION: Fifth Round
