BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter used at both tackle spots as well as tight end. Awarded all-Conference and All-America honors as a senior.
POSITIVES: Athletic blocker whose game has been on an upswing the past two seasons. Blocks with outstanding fundamentals, displays terrific
footwork and top lateral blocking range. Fluid sliding off the edge, covers a lot of area on the field, and easily controls
quick, speedy edge rushers. Patient in pass protection, jolts defenders with terrific hand punch, and easily knocks them from
their angle of attack. Moves well on his feet, fast if asked to pull across the line of scrimmage, and displayed great improvement
blocking in motion as a senior. Shows the ability to get out front into the secondary as a lead blocker. Flashes a nasty streak,
and blocks down well on opponents.
NEGATIVES: Must improve his run blocking strength and balance, which will only enhance his ability to finish plays. Possesses a thin
lower body and needs to add bulk.
ANALYSIS: Smith is a prospect who's been moving up draft boards the past six months, and he has solidified himself as one of the draft's
top three selections. He is a terrific blocker who should quickly move into a starting lineup at the next level, and his game
will only improve as he physically matures.
