BIOGRAPHY: Four-year starter who spent the majority of his career at center. All-Conference selection the past three seasons.

POSITIVES: Explosive center who plays with a good degree of athleticism. Fires off the snap, quickly gets out to the second level, and can hit a moving target or seal linebackers from the action. Effective with shotgun snap, blocks with excellent knee bend and overall fundamentals. Quickly gets his hands into defenders, and controls opponents or steers them from the action. Keeps his head on a swivel, shows a nice feel for the position, and he uses all his assets to their maximum.

NEGATIVES: Not a dominant center who opens up the middle of the field or finishes blocks. Solid yet not great footwork in pass protection.

ANALYSIS: Caldwell is a prospect who draws a variety of opinions from scouts around the league. Though many nitpick at his game, Caldwell has been a terrific player for Alabama and offers enough skill to start in the NFL. He must improve the strength of his playing base, also needs to pick up the intensity of his game, yet he should be a solid zone blocking lineman with ability at several positions.
